Time Warner Cable Software Issues

Recently Time Warner upgraded their software interface for their cable boxes. The interface, from a usability and visual perspective it is much improved. BUT Time Warner obviously did an extremely poor job of quality Assurance before releasing the software. The new software corrupted at least one years worth of programs that I had recorded on my DVR to the point where there is no data on the time, date, channel or program.

All programs recorded before the software upgrade, and I use that term very loosely appear as unknown #:

Here is what this past month’s programs look like on the Time Warner DVR interface and how they should ALL appear :

Please let me know if you have experienced the same issues.

I’ve been looking on-line to see if others were having similar problems, and just found this posting.

TWC’s interface upgrade is really a downgrade as far as I can tell! I can no longer rearrange the order of shows in my DVR list; can’t easily search for more episodes of a show I’m currently watching (now have to type in the whole name from scratch); shows to be recorded are no longer indicated in red in the guide; the audio breaks up sporadically, and no longer feeds through all of the speakers connected to my stereo (I have sound from the DVR hooked up to my stereo instead of the TV itself, and it worked fine before the “upgrade”); and everything is just slower over all (along with other issues I can’t remember at the moment).

I’m paying approx. $200 a month for cable (for 3 TVs, including 2 DVRs) plus internet through TWC, and I just don’t think it’s worth it anymore! Is moving to FIOS or Direct TV a viable option? Is there any place to post complaints to TWC where they will actually read it?

The best thing is to make a complaint to the NYC Dept IT which manages TWC. TWC takes these complaints very seriously because it affects their rate increase requests.
